Respect and Appreciation

Atticus Finch was representing a black man, Tom Robinson, in a case in which Tom was being accused of raping a white girl. Because Atticus was representing Tom in this case, the other blacks showed their gratitude towards Atticus in several ways.
The blacks showed their support by appearing at the trial and watching intently from in the balcony. Despite everyone else's doubt and unbelief that Tom had not raped Mayella Ewell, Atticus stuck with the case. He made many strong points on how Tom could not have committed the crime that he was being accused of. Tom's friends and family greatly appreciated Atticus' determination and faithfulness, even though he knew he would most likely lose.
Atticus made many good points during the trial, and it seemed so likely that he would win. Nonetheless, after several hours, the jury finally decided that Tom Robinson was indeed guilty. Even though everyone knew it would end that way, it was still a disappointment. Right after the trial ended, Atticus made his way down the isle toward the door. As he walked down the isle, the black people in the balconies stood up in respect. Even though they lost, they still respected Atticus and was very appreciative of him for standing up for and representing Tom Robinson.
The morning after the trial, Calpurnia told Atticus that Tom Robinson's father had sent the Finch family a chicken as a token of thanks. He wasn't the only one, however. Rolls had been sent from someone at the hotel, and others left on the back porch hunks of pork, tomatoes, beans, and even scuppernongs and pickled pigs' knuckles! Atticus was brought to tears by the thanks and appreciation people had for him. Despite the odds of him losing the trial, Atticus fought with everything he had. And although he did lose, the blacks very much appreciated and thanked Atticus for doing everything he could to help their friend, Tom Robinson.

Alaska

Alaska - one of the many places i long to explore. Most people don't understand why I would want to go to Alaska. Who wants to put up with below zero temperatures and giant mosquito's? I don't, but I think I could manage. To me, it's worth coping with a few annoying things to see some of God's most beautiful creations. Dog sledding, hunting and camping are some of the things I would like to do while in Alaska, however, not my main reason for wanting to go. My main reason are the wolves. I love wolves, and being able to see them in their natural habitat and to study them would be so amazing. The Northern Lights are another of Alaska's beauty I would love to see. I've seen pictures and videos, but to see the lights up close and personal would be amazing. I don't know what it is, but I'm really drawn to Alaska. It's so different from the rest of the States, and it's just so fascinating to me. I can't wait to visit!

My Career Path

The career that I have chosen and that I think best suits me is to run my own wildlife sanctuary; maybe even in another country to be a missionary as well. I definitely did not choose this occupation for money, fame, or worldly "success". On the contrary, I chose this career to serve the Lord, to give back, and merely for fun.
Serving the Lord is my purpose on this earth. God has given me a love for animals which I will use in a career to serve him. By running a wildlife sanctuary, I will be helping the creatures that God has created. If I choose to build my sanctuary in another country, or even in America, I will have a chance to minister to those who visit the sanctuary and hopefully lead many people to Christ.
Next to fulfilling God's purpose, giving back is probably the best thing anyone could do, and be remembered for in life. God gave Adam the responsibility to take care of His creatures. A wildlife sanctuary's purpose is to take in sick, injured, and or homeless wildlife, tending to them and nursing them back to health if needed.
An important reason, but not as important as the other two, I want to run my own wildlife sanctuary for the fun of it. The career will definitely not be an easy one, but at times I'm sure it will be fun. As I have said before, I have a huge love for animals, and being able to work with exotic animals everyday will be a dream come true. I love helping animals, spending time with them, and telling people about my wonderful Savior. Doing all of those at the same time, will be amazing.
In picking a career in life, loving your job and having a good reason to be doing that job, are very important. This is why I have chosen to open and run my own wildlife sanctuary. Three main reasons why I picked this career is to serve the Lord my God, to give back, and to just have fun!

My summary on Annie Dillard's "The Chase"

I had to write a summary on the short story "The Chase" written by Annie Dillard for my English class, and since I haven't posted in 9 months, I thought i might as well post it on here. :) So here it is. Oh, by the way, it might not be that great, because I have never written a summary before this one, and I'm not that great at grammer, so there might
be a lot of mistakes. But, please enjoy nontheless :P

The Chase, written by Annie Dillard, is a story in first-person form, about the author and her friends throwing snowballs at passing cars. But one little mistake the author made, was throwing a snowball at a black Buick. The Buick pulled over, and out came a man who ran after the children. The man chased them for what seemed like an eternity. He chased them through hedges, down snowy steps, through every grubby backyard in Pittsburgh. He chased them up Lloyd Street and down Edgerton Avenue; block after block.
Eventually, the children grew tired and sluggish, and eventually the man caught them by their jackets. He caught his breath and, “You stupid kids,” was all he said. “Redundant, a mere formality, and beside the point.” was how Dillard described this “chewing out”. The author believes the point of the chase was that the man chased them passionately, without giving up. The man could have done many things to the children, cut of their heads, beat them, but no, just three simple words she never forgot.
K, well there you go
